The Lypertek Tevi, or the Pureplay Z3 as they’re now called, is the first pair of truly wireless earbuds I’ve ever owned and I’ve been exceptionally impressed with them. For under £100, these earbuds did everything I hoped a pair of TWS earbuds would.

Design
The design of the actual Lypertek buds themselves are nothing special. They fit nicely in the ear and don’t feel too heavy if you leave them in for long periods of time. They don’t have the long stem that the standard airpods have which I initially was a fan of but since all of the hardware is then in the top section they do look slightly bigger than airpods. This makes them slightly more noticeable. The case is actually the more attractively designed part of the product in my opinion. The grey material look is very attractive and nice and minimal. It doesn’t get greasy with fingerprints and it hasn’t worn down the entire time I’ve been using them. The case is slightly chunky however so doesn’t fit quite as nicely in a pocket as something smaller like the airpods. This does however mean the case provides a much bigger battery.
Sound
I’m far from an audiophile. I would be able to tell what sounds good and what sounds bad but don’t have the finely tuned ears that can locate the difference between the sound curve of hundreds of different devices. To my ears the Tevi’s sound great. I mostly listen to my Soundtracks playlists these days, especially when I’m doing uni work. The Tevi’s do a great job with this kind of music, and everything sounds nice and clear, not tinny and weak like some other cheap earphones tend to do. They support AptX and AAC so on my OnePlus 8 they sound great, whether they would sound good without this turned on I have no idea. The Tevis come with 3 sets of silicone eartips and one set of foam. I did give the foam tips a try but they never seemed to give me quite as good of a seal despite most saying that foam was the better choice. For now the large eartips are suiting me fine. The one thing that I do occasionally find myself wanting is Active Noise Cancellation. Occasionally I find the seal just doesn’t block out quite enough noise for me and I would like that little bit extra that ANC offers but for now nothing seems to quite tick all the boxes like the Tevi’s have.
Extras
USB-C charging. I swear if I ever see another product release with Micro USB charging. The only product I have left that needs a micro USB is my noise cancelling headphones and my kindle and that’s two products too many.
Lypertek also has a fairly new app for the Tevi’s however it’s completely useless and if anything made my experience with the earbuds worse. After a few days using the app the connection between the earbuds and my phone went dodgy and the sound on the earbuds wouldn’t change or one would change and the other one would stay quiet. Whether this is an issue with the app or my phone I don’t know but either way you don’t really need the app.
